Cirsium muticum / Swamp thistle
Couldn't load pickup availability
Though many thistles have a reputation for being invasive and having painful prickles, swamp thistle is actually a native species and is tame in comparison, both in its capacity to spread and the sharpness of its leaves. Because swamp thistle is a biennial, it is recommended that it is allowed to self sow so you have blooms every year, scattered throughout the garden. The bright pink flowers are a pollinator favorite and bloom in late summer to early fall. Grows 5-7’ tall, and prefers swamp conditions, as the name suggests.
