Cornus racemosa / Gray Dogwood
Couldn't load pickup availability
Many Hudson Valley locals are familiar with the flowering Dogwood tree that grows wild in our forests and backyards - but less are familiar with the other types of native Dogwoods that are also important parts of our ecosystem. Cornus amomum (aka Silky Dogwood), Cornus racemosa (aka Grey Dogwood), and Cornus sericea (Red Osier Dogwood) are all large sized deciduous shrubs that evolved in our local landscape, and all 3 of these varieties are available at our Garden Center! These native multi-branched shrubs grow to be the size of small trees and produce clusters of tiny flowers in the spring which in turn become colorful berries that are a major draw for songbirds, small mammals and insects. The One Nature garden center has Cornus shrubs in multiple sizes to fit any budget. Cornus racemosa grows 10 to 15 feet tall with a 10 to 15 foot spread. Plant in full sun to part shade in soils of average moisture.
