Dioscorea villosa / Wild Yam
Couldn't load pickup availability
Dioscorea villosa is an herbaceous vine native to the Eastern United States, which can grow up to 30 feet long in a growing season - pretty remarkable for what seems like such a delicate, thin stem. While related to the Yam you can find in supermarkets, Dioscorea villosa doesn’t grow edible tubers. Vines are excellent choices for backyard gardens since they make use of the vertical space. Plant in full sun for the best flowering performances. Will tolerate part shade also. Prefers medium to wet soils.
