Matricaria recutita / German chamomile
Though there are several species of chamomile used for making tea and other medicinal purposes, German chamomile is one of the most popular. Its sweet, smooth aroma makes a delightful tea and herbalists use it to relax the mind and body. The flowers are relatively small compared to other chamomiles but they are prolific and continue to bloom throughout the summer with regular deadheading. This low-growing annual stays under 2 feet tall and prefers full sun and dry to medium soils. Allow some flowers to go to seed if self sowing is desired.
