Mentha piperita / Peppermint
Peppermint is a great pick for the beginner herb gardener. It grows easily in a range of soil conditions as long as the soil isn’t consistently dry and prefers full sun to part shade. Peppermint spreads via rhizomes, so if aggressive spread is a concern, soil barriers may be necessary. The leaves are a popular ingredient in teas and some culinary dishes, and traditional herbalists use it for combating nausea and digestive issues due to its calming effects.
