Symphyotrichum oblongifolius / Aromatic Aster is native to Northeastern and central United States. This is a lower growing aster, from 1 to 3 feet tall, with a similar spread, making it suitable as a ground cover. Blue/purple blooms appear in August and September. Plant Aromatic Asters in full sun, in average, dry to medium soils. Tolerates poor soil and drought. The popular and reliable ‘Raydon’s Favorite’ cultivar was collected from Tennessee by Raydon Alexander.
