Amelanchier alnifolia / Regent Juneberry
Couldn't load pickup availability
Amelanchier alnifolia is the shrub version of the Juneberries / Serviceberries, growing about 6 feet tall. Amelanchiers produce a fruit similar to blueberries - only a little more seedy - but require different growing conditions. While Blueberries prefer acidic, infertile, moist soils and full sun, Juneberries like more fertile, well-drained soil, and can do well in part shade. Consider the conditions of your site - in many cases the Juneberries will be easier to grow. It's also drought tolerant once established. Like Blueberries, Amelanchiers are showy all season, from white blooms, to deep green with fruits, to red-orange foliage in Autumn.
