Amelanchier laevis / Allegheny Serviceberry

Amelanchier laevis is the large shrub, small tree version of the Juneberries / Serviceberries, growing about 15-25 feet tall. Amelanchiers produce a fruit similar to blueberries - only a little more seedy. Imagine a small tree full of blueberry-like fruit! If you don’t get the berries in time, the birds in your neighborhood will be well-fed. Amelanchiers are showy all season, from white blooms, to deep green with fruits, to red-orange foliage in Autumn.
