Aronia melanocarpa / Black Chokeberry

Aronia melanocarpa is an adaptable, beautiful multi-stem shrub. White spring flowers become black late summer berries, which are known to be edible when cooked. If you don't cook them first, you will learn why they're called Chokeberries - they are quite astringent raw! The fruit is full with antioxidant properties and many health benefits. Grows in dry - wet soils in full sun - part shade up to 4-6' tall and wide. Bright red foliage is striking in autumn.

Attracts birds. Extremely flood, drought, and salt tolerant.
