Aster herveyi / Hervey's Aster

Hervey's Aster is a naturally occurring hybrid between two of our favorite woodland natives: big leaf aster and blue wood aster! It grows up to 3ft tall and produces a flat-topped cluster of lavender colored flowers in late summer to mid fall. This species prefers sun or filtered shade in average loamy soil, and due to its vigorous rhizomatic growth habit and large basal rosettes, could be a candidate for an interesting and low-effort ground cover.
