Boltonia asteroides / False Aster
Despite its name, False Aster is a member of the Aster family and produces an abundance of white, aster-like flowers, especially when grown in wetter conditions, making it a great addition to the rain garden. Depending on soil moisture, False Aster grows anywhere from 3 to 5 feet and spreads gently via rhizomes. As with most other asters, this species is a pollinator magnet when it blooms in early fall.
