Carya ovata / Shagbark Hickory

A large tree with impressive, shaggy bark (hence the common name) and produces edible nuts. Sends down a big taproot that allows it to thrive in dry, upland sites but also grows in moist sites. Does well as a specimen tree in an open location. Slow growing, but well worth the wait!
