Clematis virginiana / Virgin's Bower
Clematis viriginiana is a native vine that grows up to 9 feet in length and features white or cream colored flowers that are around 1” across. Virgin’s Bower flowers well in part-shade, so it’s ideal for the urban garden that competes for sunlight with buildings and other vegetation. This is the native Clematis, not to be confused with the invasive Clematis terniflora or Clematis paiculata. Clematis virginiana can do well in full sun as well, and prefers medium to medium moist soils. It can spread on the ground, or be grown up a trellis or hedge.
