Deschampsia cespitosa / Tufted Hair Grass

Tolerating more shade than most ornamental grasses, Tufted Hair Grass is a gorgeous cool-season grass that lends a soft, wispy texture to the garden. As the seed heads ripen through the summer, they turn shades of purple-ish green to tawny brown that glow beautifully if planted against the rising or setting sun. Flower heads persist well into the winter, prolonging their season of interest. Grows 2-3 ft and is happiest in full sun and average moisture, but can tolerate part shade. Drought tolerant once established.
