Eragrostis spectabilis / Purple Lovegrass
Ornamental grasses tend to go unnoticed or unappreciated at first. Their flowers may not be as showy as other flowering perennials. However, spend some time with them and you’ll soon be overwhelmed with their subtle beauty and texture they lend to the landscape. They also tend to be extraordinarily tough, generally able to tolerate most poor soils and even preventing erosion and improving the soil over time.
Purple Lovegrass is especially attractive; the seed heads turn purple pink, remaining attractive from mid-summer to fall. Grows best in full sun and dry to medium soil. Stays a modest 1 to 2 feet. Trust us, you will love Purple Lovegrass!
