Eupatorium maculatum / Spotted Joe-Pye Weed

Once you notice Joe-Pye Weed in the landscape, you’ve got a friend for life. An impressive plant, Eupatorium maculatum grows 5 to 8 feet tall with a 4 to 5 foot spread. Large pink flower clusters bloom atop purple stems and remain beautiful as they dry out heading into winter. You will be amazed at the pollinator feeding-frenzy that Joe-Pye instigates. Grows best in full sun to part shade in medium to wet humus-rich soils. If you'd like to grow Joe-Pye in a shadier part of your garden, try Sweet Joe-Pye Weed, or Eupatorium purpureum.
