Helianthus divaricatus / Woodland sunflower

While most sunflowers need full sun, woodland sunflower is happiest in part shade. Its bright yellow flower, which blooms in late summer, is a welcome sight in the shade where not many other yellow flowers bloom. Grows 2 to 6 feet tall and tolerates dry to medium soil.
