Heliopsis helianthoides var. scabra / Ox-eye Sunflower 'Burning Hearts'

Heliopsis helianthoides is the Energizer Bunny of perennial sunflowers, it just keeps blooming and blooming and blooming. Grow in full sun to part shade in drier, sandy soils. Tolerates clay soils as well. The 'Burning Hearts' variety showcases a color change on the petals, with the characteristic golden hue on the outer half and a 'bleeding' to a deep orange on the inner halves of the petals This variety also has a purple hue to its leaves and stems, and is lower growing than the straight species, reaching 3-4ft and with a spread of 1-2ft.
