Ilex verticillata / Winterberry 'Jim Dandy'

Ilex verticillata provides stunning bright red berries in the wintertime that are beautiful and can be an important food-source for birds in the winter. ‘Jim Dandy’ is a male berry-less cultivar that pollinates the female 'Red Sprite.' Plant one male for every ten berry-producing females. You will not get berries without a male plant within 50' feet. Grows 3 to 6 feet tall. Plant in full sun to part shade in medium to wet soils. ‘Jim Dandy’ is a more compact cultivar than our ‘Southern Gentlemen.'
