Melissa officinalis, or lemon balm, is a bushy herbaceous perennial in the mint family. It is commonly grown in herb gardens and known as lemon balm for its distinctive lemon-scented leaves. This hardy plant is edible and can be used in teas, foods, and potpourri. It also has a history of medicinal use, such as for digestive health and soothing insect bites. This plant grows very easily and will thrive in a multitude of conditions but prefers full sun and well-draining soils. Heights can reach 2ft tall.
