Mespilus germanica / 'Sultan' Medlar Fruit Tree

We are excited to start selling these bizarre and enticing fruit trees! Medlar fruit is widely known in Europe but very uncommon in America. Which is unfortunate, because they have a lot of potential. Growing at a managable 10 ft, these self-fertile fruit trees produce 1" diameter very late in the fall. If allowed to ripen inside for a few weeks, the fruit softens and the flavor becomes very rich and spicy, like cinnamon apple sauce. Grows best in full sun and average soil.
