Origanum vulgare 'Purple Maiden' / Oregano

There are many cooking recipes where fresh herbs are necessary because they lend a depth of flavor that you simply can't achieve with dried herbs. One herb you could try growing yourself is oregano. Oregano is an easy perennial herb as it is vigorous and relatively drought tolerant, and because it's perennial you don't have to worry about planting it every year, unlike many annual herbs. Grows best in full sun and average soil.
