Osmunda regalis / Royal Fern

Osmunda regalis features wire-thin dark stems that blend in with the soil, creating the illusion of floating ferns hovering a foot above the ground. Royal Ferns do best in moist to wet soils in part shade to full shade. They’ll tolerate some sun in cooler climates as long as the soil doesn’t dry out. Grows 2 to 3 feet tall with a 2 to 3 foot spread. Requires wet to moist, rich, but acidic soils.
