Penstemon hirsutus / Hairy Penstemon
Couldn't load pickup availability
If you want to grow penstemon but don’t want a tall perennial, hairy penstemon is the perfect alternative. Staying only 1 to 2 ft tall, this low growing wildflower produces adorable, tubular flowers in early summer when most other sun-loving wildflowers haven’t emerged yet. The basal leaves have a flattering clumping habit that stays low and looks great at the front of a sun garden. A versatile species, hairy penstemon grows in moist to dry soils in full sun to part shade.
