Pycnanthemum incanum / Hoary Mountain Mint
Pycnanthemum incanum / Hoary Mountain Mint
Hoary Mountain Mint is a vigorous naturalizer that spreads underground via rhizomes. This mint gets its name from the hoary/whitish appearance of the upper leaves and bracts. They enjoy full sun to part shade and dry to medium soils, producing delicate white flowers in the summer that are often tinted with lavender and enjoyed by butterflies, bees, and wasps! Spread and clumping can be controlled by pruning the roots with a spade in the fall.
