Ribes nigrum / Black Currant 'Consort'

Currants are one of the easiest edible berries to grow, and are highly underrated given their impressive health benefits. They are high in antioxidants, Potassium, and Vitamin C. Its medicinal value includes easing inflammation and potentially preventing cancer. 

Grows as a 4-5 ft bush. Black Currant prefers average, well-drained soil and full sun to part shade, though best fruit production occurs with more sun. Self-fertile. 'Consort' is best for preserves and flavoring wine.
