Rudbeckia fulgida / Orange coneflower
Couldn't load pickup availability
Orange coneflower is a popular native perennial that is very similar to another native, yellow flowering perennial, Black Eyed Susan. The main difference is that Orange coneflower is longer-lived and has a lighter brown center to the flower. The yellow to orange flowers bloom in late summer and can be deadheaded to prolong bloom. Orange coneflower spreads slowly via rhizomes. Grows 2-3 feet tall and requires full sun and average soil, though it has some drought tolerance once established.
