One word that comes to mind when thinking of Rudbeckia triloba is “abundance.” It’s hard to imagine a plant more packed with flowers. Brown-eyed Susan is semi-perennial, it seems to come back about half of the time. However, it is a prolific self-seeder, so leave some blooms to go to seed and you’ll easily have more plants next year. Conversely, you may want to deadhead spent blooms to prevent it from becoming weedy in the garden. Grows about 3 feet high with a 1 to 1.5 foot spread. Plant in full sun in medium soils. Blooms July to October.
