Symphyotrichum laeve / Smooth Blue Aster

Often taking on a blue tinge in its foliage and producing light blue flowers in late summer, smooth blue aster truly lives up to its name. Like all other asters, this species is crucial for wildlife as it provides late season pollinator value and food for birds in the winter as their seeds mature.
