Symphyotrichum urophyllum / Arrowleaf Aster

Though arrow-leaved American aster is found throughout the eastern US, it is actually less common in the Northeast and listed as endangered in Vermont. In autumn, large, intricate clusters of aster flowers emerge with bluish-white petals and a yellow or pink center. Tolerates anything from full sun to shade, though you will likely get bigger blossoms with more sun. Grows around 3 feet tall and is content in average soil.
