Taxus canadensis / Canada Yew

While almost all yews sold in nurseries are Asian, Canada Yew is native to our region and is underutilized. Ticking both boxes of a common request, Canada Yews are both evergreen and shade tolerant! This slow growing shrub requires moist, rich soil. Not quite as dense as its Asian cousins, this species is more sprawling in its habit. Warning - its berries, specifically the seeds, are highly toxic.
