Tridens flavus / Purpletop

Purpletop is a gorgeous ornamental grass that lives up to its name. The reddish-purple seedheads ripen through the summer into fall and look stunning when planted en masse. This tough grass is also salt tolerant, which explains why it is commonly found along roadsides in the Northeast. Purpletop grows 3-5 feet tall and prefers full sun to part shade and dryish soils.
