Verbascum olympicum / Olympic Mullein

Olympic mullein, true to its name, towers over the garden with a flowering stalk of 6-8 feet tall. This plant is as tough as it looks - it’s drought tolerant, deer resistant, and has semi-evergreen leaves. As a biennial it is short lived, however, so allow it to self sow to prolong its presence. In addition to its striking ornamental use, it has been used medicinally for improving skin health, for smoking, and even for emergency toilet paper. In fact, it has earned the nickname “Cowboy Toilet Paper”! Grow Olympic mullein in full sun and dry soil.
